The Disadvantages of Online Business
One of the topics that is often discussed on forums and message boards around the internet is the topic of online business. A number of people will tell you exactly what they think about online business and to people that have been successful in it, the majority of what they say is positive. This is because there is a bias in the positive direction when it comes to online business because many of the people in online business sell products specifically about how to make money online.
Therefore, there is an inherent conflict of interest in the things they tell you. One topic not often considered is the topic of how it might be disadvantageous to get involved in online business. There are definite disadvantages to online business and some of them are discussed below.
Firstly, there is the distraction factor. Online business usually entails working from home and therefore you can find any distraction at home in order to take you away from working on your online business. The television, the stovetop, the microwave, the bed and the backyard are all distractions that can result in people getting dropped from online business and losing their sense of concentration. Concentration is key in online business and ultimately it is going to be what drives people forward to succeed.
However, the offline distractions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to online business. Because a lot of online business work is tedious and boring, it is easy to get distracted. Have you ever heard people playing online games in the workplace because their job is boring at times? Well, consider how that could easily be you if you are working at an online business. You'd be sunk before you even started and that is not going to be good for anyone; least of all you.
In addition to distraction, there is also the competitive nature of online business. If you want to get involved in a particular niche, chances are there are already going to be people there ahead of you. And with the internet, larger people can crush smaller people a lot easier than big businesses can crush small ones.
Competitors think nothing of discrediting each other and ultimately everyone is only interested in selling their products and making money. It is a cut-throat world on the internet and people that aren't aware of this could get crushed so fast it would make their head spin.
So, as you can see, there are a number of disadvantages to online business. This is not to say that it can not be lucrative; far from it in fact. The internet gives you a great chance to reach people you would never have been able to reach otherwise and it is primarily for that reason that you need to be aware of all of the disadvantages inherent to online business; to understand both the good and the bad.

The Mistake 95% of Marketers Make
Okay, you join a network marketing business. You've got your company replicated website and it looks great. It has flash movies and has tons of bells and whistles. It even has a girl that walks across the screen and starts talking to you. You have auto responders, you have a dynamite back office, you have everything you need to get the ball rolling your business.
So what's the problem here?
The problem is you're about to make the same mistake 95% of marketers out there make. You're going to place all your hopes and dreams of Internet millions on a web page that says absolutely nothing about who you are as a person and what members can expect from you as a sponsor. And that's why like 95% of marketers out there, you're going to be hemorrhaging money in a very short period of time...
Lead capture pages are a lot like cookies...the best ones are made from scratch...

How To Win At Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is the process of promoting the goods or services of another person in exchange for getting a commission every time that one of those goods or services is sold.
Affiliate marketing in this way can be a very easy way for a person to get something done and when it comes right down to it the low cost and easy time commitments that affiliate marketing brings to the table are exactly what people need when they are starting up a business.
However, this does not mean that everyone that tries affiliate marketing is going to be successful at it, so even though it is one of the easiest ways to start a business online, you still need to know how to win at affiliate marketing.
Location In real estate, location is the biggest thing. In affiliate marketing, location is also the biggest thing albeit in a different way. The location we are looking for in affiliate marketing is not the location of geography or region that real estate developers are interested in, but rather the location affiliate markets are looking for is the proper market to sell their products.
Markets are targeted to different things and interested in different things and figuring out which markets are likely to like the products you are marketing is part of becoming a great affiliate marketer.
You can make things a lot easier on yourself by ensuring that the affiliate marketing that you do is only directed at markets and people that are actually interested in those particular products.
Leverage There is a very sad story in some affiliate marketing circles and it is the story of the person that did not understand leverage. This person came up with a fantastic marketing plan for affiliate marketing and tried it on one product. That plan worked great, but because the profits that it brought in were not enough to sustain a full time income, the person gave up and heartbreakingly went back to their old job.
What is the lesson here? The lesson is that people need to consider leverage when they consider how to win at affiliate marketing. Figuring out a strategy that works is hard, but once you have that strategy your next goal becomes to leverage the strategy by applying it to as many different products as possible.
If you can make $100 a week selling a certain product, why not start building up your infrastructure so that you end up making $10,000 a week eventually by selling 100 products that each make $100 a week?
Critical Thinking Location and leverage are two examples of things that came about as a result of critical thinking. Someone was faced with a problem (too few people interested in the general public or too little profit from selling one product) and came up with a solution by thinking on their feet.
Everything that you do in affiliate marketing will require this type of critical thinking and it would be impossible to go through the hundreds of different ways that this is already true of the field. Just remember to always re-evaluate the situation you are in and try to think critically about ways that you can make it better.

Make the Leap to Affiliate Marketing Success

If you are going to become a successful affiliate on the Internet, you need 3 "intangibles." These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

First, you must have a strong WHY.
Why must you make affiliate marketing work? What is driving you? What is it that you CAN'T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?
For me, I couldn't stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my life and finances through a little box that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone's time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children's lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in this business would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.
If you don't believe that it's POSSIBLE for you to make money with affiliate programs or make your living on the Internet, you won't. It's that simple.
For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money online. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.
There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money online with affiliate programs. Just get online and do some research and you'll find countless testimonials and stories of REAL PEOPLE making real money on the Internet. Or head to your local bookstore and you'll find the same documented evidence of this fact. Truth is, it's getting easier and easier to make money online with affiliate programs.
I've always said that "affiliate marketing" is the job of the future. In the "old" days, you had to go to a potential employer, apply for the position and hope for the best. Now you can simply go to any company you want, fill out their affiliate application and start work immediately. Affiliates are the new working class. Believe me, making money with affiliate programs or making your living on the Internet is WAY MORE than possible. It is pretty much (or will be soon enough) unavoidable now. Ready, FIRE, then aim... This is the operating philosophy you MUST adopt to succeed with affiliate marketing.
That's backwards for most people who like to aim before they fire. The fact is the Internet is a moving target... The only thing constant about it is change. You need to stop analyzing the game and simply jump into it. You can't learn from the outside... You have to be IN THE RING to truly understand it.
The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start an affiliate marketing business. You simply have to start one. This is what I call "Making the Leap."
The good news is that the cost of failure on the Internet is very small. In the "brick and mortar" world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you decide to open up a business. It's almost always necessary to invest thousands of dollars to get an offline business off the ground. However, on the Internet you can often start a successful business for less than $100. An Online Home Based Business Can Change Your Life
A home based business is just as much work as any other business and takes extreme amount of dedication and determination. Working hard each and everyday in the beginning is going to be something that you will need to do. You will need to invest time and money into your home business to keep it running.
After all of that hard work you put in you are going to have a business that you are in control of. This means that you will have more freedom then you ever experienced working for anyone else. Owning your own business means that you will have the freedom to spend time with family. Your daughter has a ballet recital, or your son has a baseball game? No problem for you, because you are free to take off and go when ever you need to. If your child gets sick you do not have to worry about calling in sick to work to stay home and take care of them. Doctor’s appointments for you and your family are no longer difficult to arrange, because you are free to go at any time that is available to you.
Many people would love the freedom to just go on vacation when they wanted to. When you own your own business you have that freedom. You can take a couple of days off to go on vacation any time of the year you want. Depending on the type of business you are running you may even have the freedom to take your business with you where ever you go.
An internet business can be run from anywhere in the world. If you have a laptop you can take your work with you anywhere. That soccer game of your son, daughter, cousin, niece, or nephew is now your office. Perhaps you would like to take an extended vacation but need to keep tabs on your business and how things are being run. Not a problem at all if your business is an internet based business and you have a laptop. Go on a cruise, or take a trip to another country all while still working and making the money to enjoy your life.
Running an internet business and taking it with you wherever you go also means that you can even work at the park or some other out door location. This is especially nice if you have little children who need the time to be out doors but you still need to do the work to keep your income level where it is.

Consider using your talents and abilities to be used online. Are you an artist? If so, there is always a market for graphics; put together a portfolio and shop it around. Are you a dog trainer? Set up your own website, and sell your online course, e-book, or whatever else you may be able to do online. Are you a savvy webmaster who knows how to optimize websites to make them search engine friendly? If so, you have just found your business. If you have a store or a garage full of used items in great condition, open up a storefront on eBay and see what you can do. As you can see, starting an online home business is not as hard as you may think and many of your talents and skills are easily transferable into the virtual realm which is the ‘Net.
Overall, when you are ready to start an online home business, the Internet is ready and waiting. It requires a bit of ingenuity and the ability to think outside the box, but by and large this is the least expensive way of starting a work from home career that will leave you able to spend time at home with your friends and family, set your own hours, and utilize all the skills you already have.
